We start with a Conceptual Layout; a very brief hand drawing preferably during a consultation, this way there is no confusion about what the customer wants or how to spell or arrange certain phrases. This can be done over the phone or by e-mail the important thing is to not spend hours on the computer making art that is wrong. Colors, sizes and product can be discussed at this time and notes can be taken about particular aspects of the campaign. Its time for the Comprehensive Layout to show the customer on paper or over the e-mail. The customer can view the imagery and copy to assure himself that what he is paying for is correct.
Visualization comes easy to artists but for some customers it is not enough. Often a Press-proof or as in this case a sew-out of the final design is necessary. Depending on the cost of the proof the customer is expected to be accessible to the printing company in timing as they bring the press ready he must be there to view the product or additional costs may affect the previous quote price. In most cases the artist has been given license to over-see the production.
